In keeping with our community support and help policy, MPT has designed the Organic Program for Farmers in several collecting areas which include:
Technical Assistance provided by cocoa specialists to families that sow and harvest organic beans in the production valleys of the Apurimac River, Satipo, Pangoa, Mazamari and others. This is a theoretical and practical assistance and consists on training in pruning, illnesses and plague control, shadow handling, weed control, composting as well as fermentation and drying.
Construction of nursery. In some places, nurseries have been created to carry out grafting and introduce these to farmers' plots of land.
A system of lending tools for farmers where they can have: height pruning shears, handsaws, chain saws, motor crop spraying devices, grafting knives, etc.
The Organic Program also has several benfits that help to increase the income and the farmers' quality of life:
• Staples • School uniforms • Loans for day´s pay • Annual quality prize, among others
.
Likewise, throughout the year MPT carries out many free social support campaigns tailored to the needs of the community:
• Medical health campaign • Nutritional Education • Family planning • Classes for scholastic improvement • Chocolate and toys at Christmas for the children of the organic Farmers
